The steady uphill trek continues until you reach Sete, a small but beautiful village located on a hillside surrounded by forest and mountain scenery. Here, you will relax, enjoy a warm meal, and reflect on your first trekking experience in the Himalayas.

After breakfast, the trail continues through a mix of forest paths, suspension bridges, and traditional villages. Today’s walk offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural richness as you descend and climb through rolling terrain.

Along the way, you will cross small Sherpa settlements, prayer wheels, mani walls, and terraced fields. The landscape opens up at several points, revealing stunning views of the surrounding hills and distant peaks.

By afternoon, you will arrive at Junbesi, one of the most beautiful Sherpa villages in the Solukhumbu region. Surrounded by green hills and traditional stone houses, Junbesi offers a peaceful atmosphere and strong Buddhist culture.

After arrival, you can explore the village or simply relax. The hospitality of the locals and the calm mountain environment make this one of the most memorable stops of the trek.

Overnight stay in Junbesi.

Today is an important acclimatization and exploration day in Junbesi, allowing your body to adjust to the increasing altitude before heading higher into the Dudh Kunda region. After a relaxed breakfast, you will spend the day exploring the beautiful surroundings of Junbesi and its cultural highlights.

One of the main highlights of the day is a visit to the famous Thupten Chholing Monastery, one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the Solu region. The walk to the monastery passes through traditional villages, terraced fields, and peaceful forest trails, offering a deep insight into Sherpa rural life.

At the monastery, you will observe monks in daily prayer rituals, spinning prayer wheels, and chanting mantras in a serene spiritual atmosphere. The monastery is not only a religious center but also a place of learning and meditation, making it a deeply meaningful cultural experience.

After returning to Junbesi, the rest of the day is free for rest, short hikes, or exploring the village at your own pace.

Overnight stay in Junbesi.

After breakfast, the trail gradually climbs out of Junbesi as you begin your ascent toward higher alpine terrain. The route takes you through dense forests of pine and rhododendron before opening into wide ridges with increasingly dramatic mountain scenery.

The trek today is more challenging as the altitude gains steadily, but the peaceful surroundings and fresh mountain air make the journey rewarding. Along the way, you may encounter yak herders, small seasonal shelters, and grazing pastures that indicate your entry into higher Himalayan landscapes.

As you continue walking, the vegetation becomes thinner and the views wider, offering glimpses of surrounding snow-capped peaks on clear days. By late afternoon, you will reach Yak Kharka, a quiet high-altitude pasture area surrounded by natural beauty and open landscapes.

Dinner is served at the camp or teahouse, followed by rest in the calm mountain environment.

Overnight stay at Yak Kharka.

Today is one of the most important and challenging days of the trek as you ascend toward the sacred Dudh Kunda region. After an early breakfast, you begin a steady climb through rugged alpine terrain, gradually leaving behind vegetation and entering a dramatic high-altitude landscape.

The trail becomes steeper and more demanding, but the surrounding scenery becomes increasingly spectacular. You will pass rocky paths, glacial streams, and open ridges with breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. As you gain elevation, the air becomes thinner and the environment more raw and powerful.

By afternoon, you will reach the sacred area of Dudh Kunda Lake, a high-altitude glacial lake situated at the base of the towering mountains. The lake is deeply revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, and attracts pilgrims during special seasons.

The spiritual atmosphere, combined with the stunning mountain backdrop, makes this one of the most unforgettable moments of the entire journey.

Overnight stay near Dudh Kunda.

Early in the morning, you may explore the serene surroundings of Dudh Kunda Lake, where the first light of sunrise reflects beautifully over the calm waters and surrounding snow peaks. This peaceful moment is often considered one of the highlights of the entire trek.

After spending some time at the lake, you begin your descent toward Saharsbeni. The trail gradually winds down through rocky ridges, alpine meadows, and scattered vegetation zones, offering a completely different perspective of the landscape compared to the ascent.

Although descending, the trail requires careful walking due to steep sections and uneven terrain. Along the way, you can enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and valleys far below.

By afternoon or evening, you will arrive at Saharsbeni, a quiet highland resting area surrounded by natural beauty. Here you will relax, recover from the challenging day, and enjoy a warm meal.

Overnight stay at Saharsbeni.

After breakfast, the trail continues downhill through a beautiful mix of forests, ridges, and traditional settlements. As you descend further, the landscape gradually changes from alpine terrain to greener hills and cultivated fields.

The walk today is less strenuous compared to the previous high-altitude days, allowing you to enjoy the scenery and reflect on your experience at Dudh Kunda. You will pass through small villages, prayer flags, and terraced farmlands that showcase the rich culture of the Solu region.

By afternoon, you will arrive at Taksindu, a charming village known for its monastery and panoramic mountain views. The atmosphere here is peaceful and welcoming, making it an ideal place to rest after several days of high-altitude trekking.

Overnight stay in Taksindu.

After breakfast in Taksindu, you begin your final trekking day of the journey as you descend gradually toward Phaplu. The trail today is mostly downhill and comfortable, passing through beautiful forests, small settlements, and terraced farmlands.

As you walk, the landscape becomes increasingly lush and green, with rhododendron and pine forests giving way to cultivated fields and traditional villages. You will pass local houses, mani walls, and prayer flags that reflect the strong Sherpa and Hindu cultural blend of the Solu region.

The walk is peaceful and reflective, giving you time to recall the highlights of your journey—from sacred Dudh Kunda Lake to high alpine ridges and remote mountain villages.

By afternoon, you will reach Phaplu, a small but important town in the region. After arrival, you will check into your lodge and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Overnight stay in Phaplu.

After an early breakfast, you begin your long but scenic drive back to Kathmandu. The journey retraces your route through hillside roads, river valleys, and rural settlements, offering one last chance to enjoy the diverse landscapes of Nepal.

As you descend from the hills toward the capital, the surroundings gradually become more urban, marking the transition from peaceful trekking trails back to city life. You will arrive in Kathmandu by late afternoon or evening, depending on road and traffic conditions.

After checking into your hotel, you will have time to rest and refresh with a hot shower and relaxation.

In the evening, Mountain King Treks will host a special Farewell Dinner with a Cultural Program in Kathmandu. This celebration is a way of honoring your successful journey to Dudh Kunda Lake and the surrounding Himalayan region.
