Overview
The Kori Danda Trek is a breathtaking off-the-beaten-path journey tucked into the untouched highlands of the Annapurna region in Nepal. Far from the busy trails of Annapurna Base Camp or Ghorepani, this 11-day Himalayan trekking adventure leads you to one of the most peaceful and scenic ridges in the entire region—Kori Danda (3,800 meters). Perfect for trekkers seeking solitude, serenity, cultural immersion, and incredible mountain views, this trail remains one of the last untouched trekking routes near Pokhara.
This trek begins in Kathmandu, followed by a scenic drive to Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna Himalayas. From here, you’ll travel to the picturesque Gurung village of Sikles, a living museum of culture and tradition surrounded by green hills and cascading waterfalls. The trail from Sikles to Hugu Goth and onward to Kori Danda winds through lush rhododendron forests, high alpine meadows, and quiet ridgelines. With every step, the views grow wider—revealing towering peaks like Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, Mardi Himal, and the sacred Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).
What makes the Kori Trek so unique is its raw beauty and solitude. Very few trekkers venture into this region, making it ideal for those who want to escape crowds and connect deeply with nature. The trail is moderate in difficulty and suited for those with a reasonable level of fitness. There’s no need to cross any high passes or glaciers, yet the reward is just as grand—pristine mountain views, sunrise over the Himalayas, and the soothing quiet of remote nature.
At Kori Danda, you’ll camp or stay in basic shelters surrounded by silence and stars. An extra exploration day allows for a sunrise hike to Korchen Hill (3,900m) or peaceful meditation amidst the clouds. The trail offers rich biodiversity, chances to spot Himalayan wildlife, and interactions with friendly Gurung communities.
The 11-day itinerary includes two nights in Kathmandu, two nights in Pokhara, and six days of trekking, with a well-paced route that allows for gradual acclimatization and full enjoyment of the landscapes. It’s perfect for photographers, nature lovers, cultural trekkers, and families seeking a quiet but powerful Himalayan journey.
