After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, your guided cultural journey begins with a full-day sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley, home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Today offers deep insight into Nepal’s ancient history, living traditions, and spiritual richness.

Your first stop is the Kathmandu Durbar Square, a medieval palace complex that once served as the royal seat of the Malla kings. Explore its intricately carved wooden temples, courtyards, and the iconic Kumari Ghar, home to the living goddess, Kumari.

Next, drive up the hillside to the Swayambhunath Stupa, famously known as the Monkey Temple, where prayer flags flutter and golden spires gaze out over the valley. This ancient Buddhist site is adorned with symbolic stupas and offers panoramic views of Kathmandu.

From there, you’ll continue to Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal’s most sacred Hindu shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River, this site is both spiritually powerful and culturally fascinating, especially as you witness cremation ceremonies and rituals performed by devotees.

The final stop of the day is the majestic Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest spherical stupas in the world. Circled by Tibetan monasteries, prayer wheels, and monks chanting mantras, this peaceful site is a spiritual center for Nepal’s Tibetan Buddhist community.

Return to the hotel by late afternoon and enjoy some leisure time. In the evening, you may choose to explore more of Thamel or enjoy a traditional Nepali meal at a nearby restaurant.

After a hearty breakfast at your hotel in Kathmandu, your journey to the Annapurna region officially begins. Today, you’ll travel by tourist coach or private vehicle on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Nepal’s lake city and the starting point of many Himalayan adventures.

The drive takes approximately 6 to 7 hours, winding along the banks of the Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers, with views of terraced farmlands, traditional villages, and rolling hills dotted with local settlements. On clear days, you might even catch your first glimpses of the distant snow-capped peaks, such as Langtang Lirung and Manaslu.

Upon arrival in Pokhara, you’ll check into your hotel located near the serene Phewa Lake. The afternoon is free for you to relax or explore the lakeside area, known for its peaceful ambiance, colorful boats, art shops, cafes, and mountain views. If you wish, you can take a leisurely evening stroll along Phewa Lake or enjoy a boat ride to Barahi Temple, set on a tiny island in the lake.

After breakfast at the hotel, your trekking adventure begins with a short and scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which takes about 1.5 hours. From Nayapul, you’ll start walking along the banks of the Modi Khola River, passing through quaint hamlets, terraced fields, and subtropical forests.

As you ascend gradually through Birethanti and Syauli Bazaar, the trail offers glimpses of daily village life—farmers tending crops, children walking to school, and locals greeting you with friendly “Namaste.”

By afternoon, you’ll reach Ghandruk, one of the most beautiful and culturally rich Gurung villages in the Annapurna region. The village is known for its well-preserved Gurung heritage, traditional stone houses, and stunning panoramic views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

Upon arrival, check into your teahouse and take time to rest. If energy allows, consider visiting the Gurung Cultural Museum, where you can learn more about the local customs, traditional clothing, and ancestral lifestyle of this proud ethnic group.

After a peaceful night in Ghandruk with the backdrop of Himalayan giants, your day begins with a warm breakfast and the melodic sound of birdsong in the village. Today’s trek is a beautiful uphill journey through a dense rhododendron forest, one of the signature features of the Annapurna region.

As you ascend gradually along the trail, you’ll be surrounded by towering trees, moss-covered rocks, and vibrant flora—especially stunning during spring (March–April) when the forest comes alive with blooming rhododendrons, Nepal’s national flower. The air is fresh, and if you're lucky, you might spot langurs swinging through the trees or hear the distant calls of Himalayan monals and other forest birds.

The trail is moderately challenging with occasional stone steps, but the scenery makes every step worthwhile. As you gain elevation, the views open up to snowcapped peaks including Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre.

By early afternoon, you’ll reach Tadapani, a small settlement perched on a ridge, offering dramatic sunset and sunrise views. Here, you’ll stay in a cozy teahouse nestled among the trees, with open mountain vistas on one side and forested silence on the other.

Today’s trail is a trekker’s delight, leading deep into the unspoiled wilderness of the Annapurna region. After breakfast, you’ll leave the main trekking route behind and head north through a hidden forest path toward Dobato, gradually ascending through tranquil woodland alive with bamboo, rhododendron, oak, and fir trees.

This portion of the trek is less crowded, allowing you to immerse yourself fully in nature. The biodiversity here is remarkable—home to Himalayan tahrs, barking deer, musk deer, and many species of birds including the colorful Danphe (Himalayan monal), the national bird of Nepal.

As you ascend, occasional clearings offer incredible views of the Dhaulagiri range. The final stretch to Dobato involves a bit of climbing, but the reward is exceptional. Upon reaching Dobato, you’ll find yourself surrounded by 360-degree Himalayan views. From the teahouse, enjoy a majestic panorama that includes Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Hiunchuli, and more.

In the evening, relax in the peaceful silence of the alpine zone, with the crisp mountain air and starlit skies above. If the weather is favorable, you may be encouraged to wake up early tomorrow for an optional pre-dawn hike to Muldai Viewpoint—one of the most underrated sunrise spots in the region.

Wake up to the crisp mountain air and, if you're inclined, take an early morning hike to Muldai Viewpoint (3,637m)—just a 45-minute walk uphill from Dobato. This hidden gem offers a stunning 360-degree Himalayan panorama including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, and several other peaks glowing under the first light of day. After returning to the teahouse for breakfast, your trek resumes.

Today’s trail continues through a less-trodden path as you descend slightly and then traverse through enchanting alpine forest, rich with rhododendron, birch, and oak. This stretch of the trail is particularly serene, and you may find yourself walking for hours in tranquil silence, broken only by the wind, birdsong, or the occasional encounter with Himalayan wildlife like musk deer or Himalayan monals.

The trail winds through beautiful meadows and peaceful woodland, passing occasional temporary herder shelters. You’ll soon arrive at Chistibung, a remote and peaceful settlement used primarily during the trekking season. With only a couple of basic but welcoming lodges, Chistibung offers a true wilderness experience, making it an ideal stop for those seeking solitude and authentic mountain atmosphere.

After breakfast, begin your steady ascent through alpine meadows and past yak pasturelands, gradually gaining elevation as you approach one of the most spectacular ridge viewpoints in the entire Annapurna region—Khopra Danda.

This section of the trail is remote and magical. As you climb, the views become more expansive, and the vegetation begins to thin out, revealing the raw beauty of the high Himalayas. With each step, the towering peaks draw nearer. You’ll likely see yaks grazing, and depending on the season, vibrant wildflowers blooming in the grasslands.

After a few hours of ascent, you’ll reach Khopra Ridge, where the teahouses are perched on a stunning natural balcony overlooking the Kali Gandaki Gorge—the deepest gorge in the world, nestled between Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri. The panoramic views here are absolutely awe-inspiring. On a clear day, you can see Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Baraha Shikhar, Dhampus Peak, Tukuche, and the entire Dhaulagiri massif up close.

Settle into your teahouse and spend the afternoon exploring the ridge, taking photos, or simply sitting with a cup of tea and soaking in the majesty of the Himalayas. As evening descends, witness a dramatic sunset painting the snowy peaks in golden hues—a memory that will stay with you forever.

Today is a special day dedicated to a high-altitude adventure and spiritual exploration. After an early breakfast and packing enough water and snacks for the day, begin your long but rewarding day hike to Khayer Lake (Khayer Tal)—a sacred alpine lake tucked beneath the southern face of Annapurna South.

The trail is a steady climb, weaving through rocky terrain, windswept ridges, and high-altitude pastureland where yaks often graze. You’ll walk above the treeline, with an ever-expanding view of the Himalayan giants around you. Along the way, traditional Hindu and Buddhist shrines and chortens mark the sacredness of this path. This area is deeply spiritual—local pilgrims make this journey each year, especially during Janai Purnima, believing that a bath in the lake purifies the soul and grants wishes.

After 4–5 hours of steady trekking, you’ll reach Khayer Lake (4,660m), shimmering beneath the towering ice wall of Annapurna South. The lake, surrounded by prayer flags fluttering in the cold mountain wind, is sacred to Lord Shiva and Goddess Kali, and the silence here is both powerful and humbling.

Take time to absorb the spiritual atmosphere, enjoy packed lunch in the high mountain wilderness, and if weather permits, capture photographs of the reflections of Annapurna South and Baraha Shikhar on the lake’s surface.

After spending time in this incredible setting, begin your descent back to Khopra Danda. You’ll arrive by late afternoon, tired but exhilarated by one of the trek’s most rewarding days.

After yesterday’s long hike, today offers a more relaxing yet equally fulfilling experience. Following a hearty breakfast with panoramic views, set off on a gentle exploration around Khopra Ridge, especially towards Kalibaraha Lake—a spiritually revered site where local Hindus worship Lord Baraha (boar incarnation of Vishnu).

This serene alpine lake is visited by villagers and pilgrims alike who bring offerings during key festivals. The trail to Kalibaraha Lake winds through open grassy slopes, from where you’ll enjoy uninterrupted views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and even as far as the Kaligandaki Valley below.

You’ll also visit a nearby glacier viewpoint, offering a spectacular look at the southern glacier descending from Annapurna South—a reminder of the ancient power of nature in this high-altitude realm.

This day is perfect for rest, reflection, photography, and journaling, while soaking in the magic of the mountains. You might spot lammergeiers (bearded vultures) circling above or observe Himalayan tahr grazing on the ridges. It’s a chance to reconnect deeply with the Himalayas—spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

Return to your teahouse by mid-afternoon, and enjoy some downtime, perhaps with a hot tea and a book as the sun sets over Dhaulagiri.

After days of high-altitude vistas and sacred lakes, today you descend from the panoramic heights of Khopra Danda into the rich cultural and ecological heart of the lower Himalayas. Following breakfast, begin a steady descent through beautiful alpine meadows, then enter the dense rhododendron and oak forests where the scenery transforms completely.

The trail is peaceful and mostly downhill, offering time for quiet contemplation. Keep an eye out for colorful Himalayan birds like the Danphe (Nepal’s national bird), as well as troops of langur monkeys swinging among the trees. The views of Dhaulagiri continue to dominate the background, now framed by forest foliage.

By midday, you’ll arrive at Swanta village, a charming and lesser-known Magar settlement. The Magar people, known for their bravery (many serve in the Gurkha regiments) and warm hospitality, maintain a strong cultural identity through traditional dance, music, and architecture. You may get the chance to taste locally grown organic produce, explore the terraced farmlands, or learn how villagers make local cheese.

Swanta offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the authentic rural lifestyle of the middle hills of Nepal, untouched by modern tourism. The pace of life here is slower, and the smiles are genuine.

Today, continue your descent through a beautifully diverse landscape. After breakfast, leave Swanta behind and make your way through rhododendron forests alive with birdsong and the scent of damp earth. The trail gradually takes you downhill to the suspension bridge over the Ghara Khola, then begins to rise again gently towards Chitre village, where you’ll rejoin the main Annapurna Circuit trekking trail.

From here, the trail is well-paved with stone steps that lead through well-maintained Magar villages, passing small chortens and mani walls—a reminder of the cultural blend of Hinduism and Buddhism in this region. The descent brings you to Ulleri, a bustling hilltop settlement known for its picturesque terraced fields, traditional houses, and breathtaking views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Ulleri is also famous for its dramatic stone staircase—over 3,000 steps that trekkers either ascend or descend depending on their route. Here, you’ll rest for the night in a comfortable teahouse, enjoying the hospitality of the locals, delicious Nepali cuisine, and perhaps even a local raksi (homemade millet liquor) to warm up the evening.

Your final trekking day begins with a warm village breakfast and a sense of fulfillment. You’ll cross a final suspension bridge and reach Nayapul, where your vehicle will be waiting. From here, enjoy a scenic drive back to Pokhara, arriving by early afternoon. The rest of the day is yours to relax and refresh. You may choose to unwind by Phewa Lake, sip coffee in one of Lakeside's cozy cafes, or treat yourself to a massage after days of trekking.

Pokhara is a beautiful city nestled beneath the Himalayas—calm, laid-back, and surrounded by natural beauty. It's the perfect place to ease back into comfort.

After breakfast, depart from Pokhara for a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, retracing the green valleys, rivers, and rolling hills along the Prithvi Highway. As you enter the Kathmandu Valley again, the energy of the capital city welcomes you back with its vibrant blend of tradition and modernity.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check into your hotel and take time to rest or explore the nearby Thamel area for some last-minute shopping or souvenirs — from handmade pashmina shawls to singing bowls and prayer flags.

In the evening, Mountain King Treks will host a special farewell dinner at an authentic Nepali restaurant, where you’ll enjoy a delicious multi-course meal featuring traditional dishes such as momo (dumplings), dal bhat, and chicken curry.
