FAQ Questions & Answers for Mountain King Treks

1. Do your guides speak English or other languages?

Answer: Yes, all our trekking guides speak fluent English and are experienced in handling international groups. Some guides also speak other languages such as German, French, Spanish, or Chinese. Let us know in advance if you require a guide in a specific language.

2. What is included in the trek cost?

Answer: Trek cost generally includes accommodation during the trek, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), trekking permits, TIMS card, an experienced licensed guide, porters, ground transportation, and a cultural farewell dinner in Kathmandu. For full details, please refer to the inclusions section of each trek itinerary.

3. Do I need previous trekking experience?

Answer: No, you don’t need previous trekking experience for many of our trips. We offer beginner-friendly treks like Ghorepani Poon Hill, Everest View, Helambu, and more. For challenging treks like Manaslu, Dolpo, or high passes, a good fitness level is recommended.

4. Do I need travel insurance?

Answer: Yes, travel insurance is mandatory. It must cover high-altitude trekking, medical emergencies, and helicopter evacuation. We recommend checking with your provider before you travel.

5. What about altitude sickness?

Answer: Altitude sickness is a risk on higher treks. That’s why our itineraries include proper acclimatization days. Our guides are trained to recognize symptoms early and take action. We carry a first aid kit and work with emergency rescue services when needed.

6. How do I prepare for a trek in Nepal?

Answer: Start cardio, leg-strength, and endurance training 4–6 weeks before arrival. We’ll also send you a packing list and preparation guide after booking. Drinking plenty of water, good hiking boots, and mental preparation help a lot.

7. When is the best time to trek in Nepal?

Answer: The best trekking seasons are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). These offer clear skies, stable weather, and beautiful mountain views.

However, Nepal also has excellent trekking options during monsoon (June–August) in Trans-Himalayan rain-shadow regions, such as:

  • Upper Mustang
  • Upper Dolpo
  • Nar Phu Valley
  • Limi Valley
  • Short Annapurna Circuit

Additionally, low-altitude treks like Poon Hill, Helambu, Panchase, Tamang Heritage Trail, and Everest View Trek are possible in the monsoon with proper preparation. We help you choose the best route for every season.

8. Is the flight to Lukla safe?

Answer: Yes, flights to Lukla are operated by experienced pilots and are generally safe. However, weather conditions in the mountains can cause delays. We recommend adding a buffer day to your itinerary, and we’ll assist with all logistics.

9. Can I store extra luggage in Kathmandu?

Answer: Yes, we offer free and secure luggage storage in our Kathmandu office while you’re trekking.

10. Do I need a special permit for Upper Mustang or Dolpo?

Answer: Yes, both are restricted regions and require a special permit and a minimum of two trekkers. We handle all permit arrangements and official paperwork.

11. Is it possible to customize the trek itinerary?

Answer: Absolutely. We offer fully tailor-made trekking and climbing packages. Whether you want to extend the route, slow the pace, or add cultural activities, we’re happy to personalize your itinerary.
